Spring and March...

FINALLY, the Spring nature table! The kids have been enjoying it!

Spring, Spring....Spring is here!!!! My favorite moment is when I hear the song birds singing again! Natures symphony...

Catriona insisted I take a picture of her with her babies...she was my only child today and she made the most of her time without the day care kids...

Two of my favorite puzzles the girls put together, they were very proud!

I was feeling crafty, so I sewed two dolly blankets and two pillows for Catriona's dolls...

I whipped this dress up in a jiffy...I guess she liked it, she wore it two days in a row!

They all enjoy cooking.

These rainbows came out sooo cute! I should add a picture of them finished...

Look who's walking!!!! Little miss Gabriella! She's zooming around even more since this picture was taken! (sorry it's blurry but i was laughing and hurrying with the camera)

I loved this! Catriona just created it all on her own...then our cat came over and actually pushed a couple of them out of order! lol Catriona made sure to fix it...so I snapped a shot of it since it meant so much to her...

Handcrafted Yule gifts...

This is my first attempt at a Waldorf doll, it was made for my neice who is very happy with it! (see x-mas '07 pics)

This set of mittens and hat are also for my neice...they are made from 100% wool and will keep her ears and fingers warm and dry!
This set is for my nephew! The self striping 100% wool yarn, came out beautifully! And the color just looks stunning next to his blue eyes! :)

Catriona's Canopy that I made for her...

Catriona's new canopy that I made for her tonight (ignore the ugly outlet!)...It's not silks, like I'd like for it to be, but it will due for now... The sheers were once Nicole's (for something similar), years ago...now Nicole wants Cat to have them :) It's our attempt to create a "big girl" bed for her, even though it's still her crib, we've taken the side bar completely off, so she's training now for a twin size bed.

I think that smile means she likes it! It was a surprise I did for her...

Aww, nighty night sweet pea... She wanted to go to bed right away tonight!

Yule gnomes...

Just look at these 4 wee gnomes I whipped up for our nature table! They are adorable! They're made from acrylic felt and 100% cotton balls, instead of all the nice wool, but they're gnomes and they're cute and Catriona loves them! :) Just look at her smiling face...

We're getting our x-mas tree this saturday and I know when I pull out all our ornaments and such, I'll have more to add to our nature table, but for now it is what it is...I did have out our nesting Santa already...I love him...so do the kids... I thought he made a nice addition to the table...anyway, apparently they're meant to be a work in progress. The wee basket has some acorns, chestnuts, mini (fake) guords and pinecones and also some pumpkin seeds in it...

From wool sweater-to handbag!

From this....
....to this!I couldn't be happier at how this craft project turned out! To think, I can make a trendy handbag from a recycled wool sweater! I washed it I think like 4 times to felt it and viola'! It just needs a button then it's complete, but I'm using it tomorrow anyway :)
(I'm using the inside of the sweater as the outside for my bag)

Cat's hat

Yay, Catriona has mastered swinging on her own! I was very happy for her as we've been working on it :) The hat, well, we live in an area where there are hunters, so I got her this bright orange hat as a way to protect her sweet head, anyway, I ironed on an orange butterfly applique that I had and it came out adorable! It pretties up a dull hat!

So, who is taking the stick from who anyway?

Best buds :)

Baby mittens...

Ok, like, are these totally adorable or what?!!! They came out so cute and so soft... My wee 4th cousin will love them...hehe It only took me about an hour or so...(I'm slow, what can I say) :)

Felt board...

I made this felt board for Catriona a few months ago... It's just a piece of cardboard covered in blue felt then I made a bottom piece from green felt and cut little slits all over the top for grass... I found the pieces that she's playing with at a yardsale this summer, that another provider who was leaving the business had... When I get a photo copier, I'm going to copy pictures from books me and Catriona like, then cut around the characters, laminate it, and attach either felt or a small piece of velcro (the rough part) to the back of it... I think that's a great way to reinforce messages in some books...great for the imagination and early language skills as well...

Catriona's mittens!

Yay I finished them! It took me several hours, but they're done and I'm so thrilled that I can do this! It was actually very easy! Cat loves them... Now for that wool ;)This is when she came down this morning and they were finished...she really was pleased with them, which made me very happy...
I'm so happy to have such a crafty husband...he whipped this together for me this morning...it is so handy to have my thread at arms reach and where I can veiw all the colors I have...I'm sure I will not only be adding more, but without a doubt, soon hubby will need to whip together another one for me, hehe :) And there's Cat in the corner peeking in to be in the photo :)

Current projects!

I'm so excited to be crafting right now...I don't know what's got into me, but I have so many ideas rolling around in my head...I think it's just due to wanting quality toys and clothing for my kids and myself and my family and if I can help provide them with that then I'm going to...I'm blessed with that ability so here I go... :)

This is the Waldorf style doll that I'm still in the process of finishing... It's an easy pattern and making the clothes will be fun!

These mittens were going along great, then I noticed something funny with the pattern instructions so I've had to tweak it myself...I would've started a different pattern, but I really liked how this one was turning out, besides the instructions being wrong...surely it was a typo! I've found this with recipe's I've printed out from websites...so nothing but Betty Crocker for me from now on! lol and of course those family recipe's that have been handed down!

Anyway, I've since found a great Lion Brand pattern for mittens for the whole family and I can't wait to whip some up! I've got two pairs of thumbless baby mittens to make today as well, as both my 3rd cousins had and are having thier baby :)

This also isn't the best yarn, but it's what I had on hand and since these are my first pair of mittens I'd rather practice on it than a gorgeous skein of wool! Oh I can't wait for that wool though!

Ok, these are some cute applique's that Catriona picked out today for her wool coat...they are so cute! But I'm not sure where to add them...the pockets? chest? Maybe just on the pockets... I'll post a picture when I've finished...

And finally, these two adorable doll heads came just like this at our local Salvation Army store! How exciting of a find for me and Catriona, and today I got these cute butterfly's to use as wings to make them into fairies! These are for x-mas...so are the dolls and doll clothes...

What a busy weekend!

Yay! I love my new sewing corner of my bedroom! :) There is an antique singer sewing machine within that dark wooden table that was my grandmothers (my dad's mom), and that chair was hers as well that she used with it. It came over from Scotland with them, many, many years ago. It was quite an honor for her to give it to me... I've sewn one dress and one skirt on it... That was a long time ago... I've since bought the white singer that's on top of it... Not the best machine, but it's getting the job done... I would so love a serger some day! It really finishes things off nicely...as I want to make clothes for me and Catriona.

Anyway, I've been working on this all weekend! I needed to fit my sewing machine somewhere to be able to have freer access to it... and also I've been sorting out Catriona's room and books...I'm pooped! I can't believe how much stuff I've got done... I feel good about it though... I got rid of a lot of stuff that I wasn't and that was just taking up space! Being organized, and everything having it's own "home", makes it look cleaner and homier to me!

In the past I have enjoyed getting tips from fly lady on organizing and keeping a ship shape home http://flylady.com/ Some of it seems a bit old fashioned to me...but very helpful never the less... Also, I've enjoyed my Martha Stewart shows and magazines in the past http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.76d5d3769e1fc1611e3bf410b5900aa0/?vgnextoid=c479cf380e1dd010VgnVCM1000005b09a00aRCRD Although, I haven't had time in the past year or so to read these websites, I still implement what I've learned from them :)

Oh yeah, I'm also very happy about hubby painting our entry doors of our house, red! It's said to be good fortune to all who reside within and keeps out any evil spirits or misdoers ;)
